The McLaren MP4-12C, renamed to just McLaren 12C in the end of 2012, is a two-seat, mid-engined sports car manufactured by McLaren Automotive. Unveiled in September 2009 and launched in mid-2011, it was the company's first production road car since the McLaren F1. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, and has Formula 1-sourced technologies such as "brake steer".
"MP4" stands for McLaren Project 4, a codename used in McLaren's Formula 1 cars since the company's merging with Ron Dennis' Project 4 Racing team. "12" stands for the company's internal performance rank, with "C" being the abbreviation for Carbonfibre-MonoCell.
